Grimm Props and Costumes Warehouse Sale in Portland!

It was such a bummer to learn that Grimm was being cancelled this year. For most of the series I was living in Los Angeles, and watching the episodes each week made me feel like I was home again. There was nothing I enjoyed more than getting those glimpses from home, recognizing city and street names, seeing the architecture that I so love. I recently moved back to Portland and was looking forward to scoping out some of the filming locations (a hobby of mine that I will be blogging more about soon!). The one silver lining to the cancellation was hearing about both the online Screenbid Grimm auction and the Grimm Warehouse sale here in Portland.

Grimm TV Show Props and Costumes Warehouse Sale in Portland – the original posting by A&S Estates sales.

From the Oregon Live article:Grimm Warehouse Sale

“Here’s what the company says will be offered: “vintage furniture, antique furniture, mid-century modern furniture, clothes, costumes, household goods (new and vintage), doors, architectural items, signs, rugs, industrial lighting, lamps, books, smalls, primitives, collectibles, Christmas stuff (vintage and new), home furnishings, building materials, props, Halloween stuff, bicycles, hardware, kitchenware, chairs, apothecary, artwork, banners, restaurant ware, office supplies, costumes, tools, pallet shelving, retail store display stuff, frames, home decor, dining tables, benches, sfx items, linen, drapes, sports equipment, camping stuff, advertising, and so much more…”

The liquidation sale was held in a 40,000 square foot warehouse located at 2120 NW 27th Avenue, Portland, OR 97201. It ran from 9:00am Saturday, March 11th to 5pm on Sunday, March 19th.

Here’s a little video that A&S Estates sales made of the Grimm Warehouse sale. It gives you an idea of just how large it was and the interesting things people picked up there.

People started lining up the night before as early as 3am in the morning! The wait for that first day was 5-6 hours for some, due to the capacity limit of 250 shoppers at a time in the building. I decided to skip that weekend because I wasn’t willing to wait in line in the rain for hours. I regret not going down early in the morning and being one of the first people. I know they sold Monroe’s train set as well as TONS of items from the Exotic Spice & Tea Shop, but you would have needed to be pretty early in line to get those. *sigh*

One positive thing about waiting though, was that they had SO MUCH property to get rid of that they couldn’t put it all out at once. As stuff would sell, they would bring out more boxes. Because of that I was super lucky and got my hands on stuff that definitely would have been sold in that first day or so… like some of Monroe’s Christmas ornaments and decorations!! Definitely what would have been my first pick if I could have anything from the series. So, I can’t complain too much.

I went on the very last day and since there weren’t as many people, I didn’t have to really wait in line AND I was able to spend most of the day digging through every square inch of that warehouse. I ended up finding some pretty awesome stuff – some of it I am keeping, and some I am going to put online to sell for fans who couldn’t make it to the sale in person.

I will have a another blog post on the items that I bought. Stay tuned for more! For now, here are some of the images I took while shopping at the warehouse sale that day.

I wanted this neon sign SO badly. It’s just gorgeous!!! But it was so large and heavy. I knew there would be no way I could display it properly.

And this sarcophagus was hanging out in the fake Tri-Met bus stop waiting for a ride. lol My Anthropology degree and obsession with Ancient Egypt made me really want it. Unfortunately it was a bit out of my price range. I opted for smaller items from the Archaeology set.

This old stove was super neat, and I think it may be the one from Monroe’s place. I remember his was an antique green stove, but I can’t remember for sure if this was it.

Surprisingly they had quite a bit of stuff from the main characters still available – and even some of it was labeled as such so you didn’t have to know the items or the episodes:

The Christmas stuff was SO amazing. Someone bought the reindeer and sleigh while I was there.

The banner was humongous! I believe it was from the scene in Krampus when they show people shopping in town before the kids break into the car.

Here are some additional images I took from the last day of the Grimm Warehouse Sale:
